I did this shot in an old Hollywood film noir style for another portfolio. I want to keep that portfolio PG-13, so I think it belongs here even if it is a bit mild for this portfolio.
I shoot with a model I've shot with before. She has had some success at the gym and wanted to show off the results.
A photo from a private shoot where the model was looking for a classic soft lighting image.

Hey! I got a new coffee cup!

The blue toning of this image is meant to simulate late evening light. The photo was actually taken in the middle of the afternoon as evidenced by the clock. I have to remember to either change the hands on the clock or take it out the the photos.

A natural light location shoot at a hotel suite with a large tub. Water and soap suds add an interesting texture.

A couple of photos from a private shoot. It's not usual for someone booking a private shoot to allow their photos posted.

This photo is from a shoot with a professional dancer. Dancers tend to be easy to pose - you set up the frame and just let them do what they do.

Digging in the archives again. When I took this photo of Amy Ried, I thought the shadows and shapes were interesting. Then I thought it looked too busy. Now I'm not sure.
Semi candid photo of the model applying body oil. A light covering of body oil helps enhance contrast especially in low light situations.

A session with a first time model. She had a very good sense of posing and filling the frame in the photo. Posing nude is not as hard as most people imagine it to be before they try it.
Another attempt to create a 1950s style, early morning breakfast scene. I think it worked pretty well, although I wish I had thought to change the hands on the clock.

Sometimes a plain paper backdrop and a couple of lights are all you need. Plus a good model.

I found this image in the archives while looking for something else. It's just meant to look like the 1950s. It's actually from about 2005.

A shoot with a model I've shot with before, but it's been a while. All natural light. With low light coming through a window, it can be a challenge to put some light behind the model. A mirror can work better than a reflector.

From another shoot with a 40+ model. I'm starting to think that I'm using the coffee cup prop too often.

A long exposure in the early evening. This model had to sit still for about two minutes. That is something that is easier to do when you have a comfortable chair.

This a photo of adult film star Amy Ried. I've done fine art (whatever that means) style shoots with popular adult stars so their fans can have socially acceptable photos of their favorite porn stars on their walls.
The model at the right skinned her knee the day before the shoot. She asked me not to touch it up in at least one photo because she said that it is part of her personality to have scrapes like this.
Robes have been one of my favorite props lately.

More studies in droplets and texture contrasts.

I don't usually recreate famous photos, but this is an exception. The model wanted a photo of herself similar to a photo created by fashion photography icon Horst -

Horst Photo

The Horst photo didn't have the handcuffs however.

I will sometimes use a coffee cup or a telephone as a prop. When I'm feeling real creative, I use them both.
I'm often asked why I don't have more (or any) photos of male models posted.

Here's one (he is right there behind this female model).

This model is a Betty Page fan (who isn't?). She had her hair done Betty Page style and brought a guy willing to do the fake BDSM scenarios.

No models were harmed doing this set (the paramedics said he was going to be fine).
