I have a weakness for grainy, shadowy images that look like they came out of the 50s. It isn't the only thing I do, but with every shoot I try to get a least one roll of grainy old film into the mix.

Here is a nice portrait of Amy Ried. This is one of my best selling prints on Ebay. I like making big prints and I printed this image as large as 20 x 20 inches. I didn't know who Amy was when we did the shoot. I've since discovered that she has a large fan base around the world.
I love the short focus from the 1.4 lens and the grainy, 3200 speed film. I didn't know that this woman was a dominatrix until she dumped her bag of props out on the floor. She was very inventive and we had a great shoot.

Shooting with two models gives you some opportunities to create narratives and scenarios.

Some lighting experiments with a first time model. After about five minutes though, she was an experienced model.
I like to use a coffee cup as a prop. I know it makes no sense from a practical standpoint to place a cup of coffee on your chest when you are laying down, but I thought it made an interesting photo.

A lot of women who do private shoots ask to photographed nude, but "not nude". Here is a modest portrait of Stephanie in London in the window light of a typical cloudy London afternoon.
I really like the contrast of textures in this photo. It helps when your model has great skin.

I've been working with color tones. I still prefer black and white, but I like the desaturated colors.
This image is from a shoot at my studio. All natural light.

This shot is from a private shoot with two amateur models in their 40s. I get a lot of women 40-50 doing private shoots. Some women seem to think that it's their "last chance", but I've done shoots with people in their 60s.

Model Kata was on a break, lying on a sofa in the last of the window light. I took this photo hand held in low light was 3200 iso film. This photo is a little out of focus and grainy, but I think that it has a dream like quality that you sometimes cannot plan.
Canadian model Katja in our hotel suite in Toronto.
British glamour model Stephanie Grant photographed 50s style in an apartment in London.
A nude woman in a derelict building. Having a photo like this in your portfolio is required by law for all figure photographers.

Nika caught in a candid moment.

Actually, Nika is a good actress. This phone was not even plugged in.

We did this photo shoot in a hotel in NYC. Each room in the hotel had been decorated by a different artist. This room featured a collage of photos of 80s pop stars.

Another moody image taken in the afternoon light.
UK model Teresa May was featured in the band Prodigy's infamous video, "Smack my bitch up". Here is a little softer view of Teresa.
It is difficult to find better light than the light that comes through a window in the late afternoon. It's important to find a comfortable pose that the model can hold.
Hands can be a challenge, so sometimes I like to give a model a model a prop to hold. Here is Amy Ried with a tea cup.
This is one of my best selling images. Kata from Budapest with a pitcher of water. If you are invited into the bathroom of a private home in the Chicago area, you may see this image on the wall.
This is from one of my first sessions with a model in London. Rosaleen Young has a cult following in Britain and was one of the most helpful models I have worked with.
